DoggieDaycareColumbus.com | Meet The Pack

Karen Kiser, Director and Co-Owner
Background: I worked for over 25 years in a customer-based industry. I worked my way up from entry level to a corporate
vice president allowing me to see and experience the service industry from all sides. I am also a lifelong animal owner, lover
and advocate. So, Doggie Daycare Center has allowed me to integrate my passion for dogs with my total customer satisfaction
experience.
If I were a dog I would be... My own dogs, Logan and Rigby. I doubt there are two more loved dogs anywhere. They are
spoiled with attention and get pretty much whatever they want. It's a great life.
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... Seeing the excitement and anticipation of the dogs when they come in to
play with their friends. And the client's comments on how much their dogs love being at DDC. It is very gratifying.
Amy
Background: I've grown up with animals all my life. I myself rescued a Doberman and have adopted a Miniature Pintcher.
I have been accepted into the Vet Tech program at CSCC and hope to graduate with an Associate of Arts degree every soon.
If I were a dog I would be... I would want to be any dog with a great family where I can sleep on the furniture and get
all the treats I want! Yeah, I want to be spoiled.
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... Of course, the wonderful dogs. I get to be around all their unique personalities.
It's like being around all your friends for six hours.
Brittany
Background: My background with animals began when I first had a relationship with my dog Bumper at age one. Since then,
I haven't lived a day without animals and have based both my pre-college occupations and college degree on working with them.
My experience with animals ranges from owning them to being employed at animal related businesses since I graduated from high school.
If I were a dog I would be... That's too easy...a Brittany Spaniel! Other than the most obvious similarity, they are very loyal,
friendly, fun-loving and are almost always born tailless. (So, was I.)
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... Of course, all the great, colorful and always intriguing dogs! Along with that is
the great staff that love and care for the dogs. Our dogs go home happy and usually ready for bed!
Calie
Background: I fell in love with dogs when I was a little girl and have been working with them ever since. This includes
numerous veterinary clinics, animal shelters, and rescue groups in the Cleveland and Columbus areas. I am currently a student at
OSU studying Animal Science as well as at CSU earning a degree in Veterinary Technology. I have worked at DDC for over a year and
I love every minute of it.
If I were a dog I would be... a Saint Bernard because they are big dogs (which I am obsessed with) with even greater
personalities. They are fun-loving but they can be a little clumsy at times. They are hard headed and independent but exuberant
and energetic too. Above all else, I think I am most kindred with them because they are very laid back and get along with everyone,
just like me.
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... by far is simply getting to be with these amazing dogs every day. (I even have
a little withdrawal on the weekends.) I love how excited they are when they come in the morning, but playing with them in the pools
and with the hose in the summer is definitely the best.
Missy
Background: I have had a passion for animals practically since I was born. I said 'dog' before I said 'mom'. I
received my BS in Chemistry from John Carroll University and am currently working on completing my Masters in Public
Health while attending Veterinary school at OSU. I hope to someday own my own small animal clinic and specialize in
behavior.
If I were a dog I would be... A mutt. They have the best of all worlds. There are no pre-determined standards
and expectations so I'd be considered original and probably get away with more!
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... The mystery of the upcoming events of the day. It's like a doggie
soap opera: Who's going to find romance? Who's gonna be the new leading man/lady (alpha dog); who's going to be the
villain? (aka-steals the ball) Fortunately, here, there is always a Disney like happy ending for everyone by day's
end.
Brianne
Background: I am a student at Ohio State. I have always loved dogs and grew up with many. I dream of one day having
a career working with dogs.
If I were a dog I would be... A golden retriever! Because they're friendly and loyal.
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... Playing outside with all the dogs in the pools on a nice day!
Seth
Background: I've loved dogs since I was a boy. When I got my very own dog Didymus, I finally had the chance to
train and raise her and watch the bond grow between us. She has taught me so much and made me realize my passion for
animal psychology which is a field that I plan on getting into in the future.
If I were a dog I would be... A border collie because of their high level of intelligence and their endless energy.
All I'd need is a job, a lot of land to run on and someone to love and be loyal to.
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... Coming to work and loving what I do and having the chance to learn so
much from all my furry friends.
Lauren
Background: I just moved to Columbus from New Jersey, where I have been working with dogs for over 5 years. I've
worked at a pet store. (Please don't buy dogs from pet stores), at PetSmart for their PetsHotel and Doggie Daycare and
I've been working with multiple shelters and rescue organizations in the NYC/NJ area for a few years.
In the future, I plan to return to school and major in Zoology.
I have two boston terriers back at home in New Jersey named Pork and Beans. They were both rescues. I miss them dearly.
I will eventually be fostering and possibly be adopting a new dog as well.
If I were a dog I would be... Any dog. Dogs are the most loving, good natured, loyal and non-judgmental animals in
existence. If humans were half as good as dogs, the world would be a much better place.
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... How tired everyone is after a long day of playing. Yea, nap time.
Jenny
Background: I am a student at CSCC, where I am studying to become a veterinary Technician. I have always loved dogs and
enjoy spending time with them at DDC. I don't have any dogs of my own so it is the perfect place for me.
If I were a dog I would be... Any of the dogs we have at DDC because they are all so amazing!
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... Getting to be around the best dogs in the world. And getting to see them
play all day with their friends and the staff.
Danielle
Background: I go to the Ohio State University and I major in comparative literature. I have been working with dogs
my entire life and I feel a home is not complete without one…or two…or maybe three. I have a husky mix named Rory and she
loves accompanying me to DDC.
If I were a dog I would be... A husky. They are playful, slightly mischievous, energetic and charmingly obstinate. I
don't know how many times I've scolded my dog Rory for being obstinate and my mom say, "Yeah, I wonder where she got that
from".
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... Being surrounded by dogs all day and learning about each of their
personalities and special quirks. They are each their own individual, just like people.
Ted, Groomer
Background: I am the Domestic Canine Appearance Technician here at DDC. I took up grooming in 1969. I attended the
now defunct Columbus School of Dog Grooming which at the time was affiliated with the New York School. I have been a full
time groomer since 1992. When not at the DDC, I can be found on stage as an actor or throwing darts.
If I were a dog I would be... An Oscar Mayer Hot Dog cause everyone would be in love with me.
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... Watching all the dogs have so much fun all day.
Mocha Chip and Mallomar
Background: Both Mallomar and I were adopted as puppies from the Franklin County Humane Shelter by our parents who
along with our grandma own the Doggie Daycare Center.
If I were a person I would be... Michael Phelps because he gets to swim all day-every day which is my most favorite
thing to do in the whole world. Mallomar would work at Nabisco where she would get to make Mallomar cookies and taste test
treats all day, her most favorite thing to do.
Best Thing About Doggie Daycare Center is... If we stand in the day care office window, we get treats from all the parents
when they pick up their 'kids' and we get to play in the back with all our friends or come up front and hang out in the office
with grandma.
